AI Pricing FAQ
Understand price units, billing periods, verification and comparison limits.
SOURCES & METHOD
Facts you can check.
Subscriptions: manual checks.
Models: sourced API rates.
How do model prices work?
API usage is billed separately from subscriptions. Token-based prices are shown per million tokens; other models may use different units. Open a model’s pricing details for rates, conditions and its source. Missing prices are shown as unreported.
What is verified?
Subscription prices and features come from official pricing and help pages. Each stored fact has its own source and check date. Open “Sources & conditions” on a plan or a comparison feature to inspect it. Unverified US prices are shown as “Price unverified” and excluded from calculated options.
What do feature labels mean?
- Included: The plan includes the feature. Usage limits may apply.
- Limited access: The plan offers a lower usage allowance.
- Eligibility applies: Access depends on your account, age, location or language.
- Not included: The official source explicitly excludes the feature.
- Not applicable: This row describes another provider’s plan benefit. It does not assess integrations or access to the same model.
- Partially included: The plan covers only part of the feature you selected.
- API key required: The documented tool needs your own API key. API costs are not verified as included.
- Image costs unverified: The tool exists, but its included allowance and any extra charges are unverified.
- Unverified: We haven’t confirmed whether the feature is included.
Only verified access counts toward plan matches. Partial access, API-key tools, unverified costs and product-specific rows that don’t apply are excluded.
How are options and savings calculated?
We consider single plans and combinations of up to two plans in this catalog. Only options with a confirmed fixed US monthly price and checked access to every selected feature qualify. They are ordered by base monthly cost, then fewer plans. Free plans qualify only when you opt in. This does not compare output quality or guarantee enough quota.
Potential monthly difference = your entered monthly-equivalent charges minus the option’s listed monthly fees. The 12-month projection assumes unchanged prices. Taxes, overages, promotions, refunds and unused prepaid time are excluded. This is a future subscription-cost scenario, not cash recoverable today. We do not automatically recommend cancelling a plan.
How is yearly cost displayed?
A confirmed annual price is an upfront payment. Otherwise the displayed total is 12 monthly payments, labeled as such. An unconfirmed annual offer is not treated as unavailable. Starting prices are never used in savings calculations.
How fresh is the information?
Facts are manually checked, not refreshed automatically. After 30 days, a fact is marked “Review needed” and excluded from automated option matching. Older facts stay visible with dates and sources. Providers can change details within this window; confirm price and access on their official site.
What is outside this comparison?
App-store prices, team plans, employer benefits, promotions and student discounts are outside calculations. Consumer subscriptions and developer API billing are separate. This catalog covers selected plans, not every available tier. Use-case labels describe workflows, not quality rankings. This version has no affiliate links.
Are GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot the same?
No. This catalog tracks GitHub Copilot coding plans. Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft 365 subscriptions are separate products and are not included here.
Does a subscription include API usage?
Do not assume so. Developer API usage is billed separately unless a specific, sourced allowance is documented.
How are comparisons generated?
Profiles, plan pages and comparisons use the same stored facts. We do not infer unsupported features from missing documentation or declare an output-quality winner.
